Independence

The members of ElCom appointed by the Federal Council are experts in various specialist fields. They work for ElCom on a part-time basis and while maintaining other professional activities. However, they cannot belong to or provide services for legal entities operating in the electricity industry.

All ElCom members must comply with standard recusal requirements. ElCom has strengthened these requirements and introduced additional abstention rules.

Members are required to annually disclose any vested interests, which are transparently declared.

Technical Secretariat employees must also adhere to a code of conduct, which they sign upon entering employment with ElCom.
