Tariff data and visualisations

Electricity price website: Overview of tariffs in Switzerland

ElCom’s electricity price website allows comparison of tariffs from Swiss network operators and electricity providers. It provides detailed price comparisons of household and business tariffs across Swiss communes.

Core data for the tariffs of Swiss distribution system operators

Through the Federal Administration’s Swiss Open Government Data Initiative, EICom uses the LINDAS platform and Visualize to provide additional services related to ElCom data. Useful information on using LINDAS for data analysis purposes and how to produce basic visualisations with ElCom’s tariff data can be found below. Previous raw tariff data is also still available.

Raw tariff data

Various data can be obtained from the LINDAS system by entering the search requests set out below:

Swiss communes and electricity network operators responsible

Raw data on 2026 tariffs, standard product

Raw data on 2026 tariffs, low-cost product

Raw data on 2026 tariffs, price increase

Machine-readable tariffs

Each request contains annotated filters enabling you to limit data to your specific area of interest. More information can be found on the LINDAS platform page.

Visualize

Visualize (www.visualize.admin.ch) is a web-based application used internally by the Federal Administration that enables visualisations of public data to be created in a few simple steps and published if required, for example by integrating an API. This system enables general users or data analysis and publication specialists to create their own visualisations, share them via links or embed them into their own websites.

We have provided a few examples as a starting point for your own visualisations:

Evolution of tariffs in communes

Median electricity price per canton
Development over the course of time / Line Charto
Map

Evolution of tariffs in Switzerland

Network operators by supply area

Please note: The embedded Visualize graphics are intended for a small audience and are not ideal for heavily visited websites (such as major media outlets, etc.).

Applications via the LINDAS platform

ElCom tariff data can be used for data analysis purposes and is machine-readable on the LINDAS platform. Users can enter SPARQL queries to create individual search requests on tariffs and link them directly to their own systems if required. More information can be found on the LINDAS website and in the following tutorial documents.

  • Electricity tariffs in Switzerland: Comprehensive introduction to the data model of EICom’s OLAP cube in RDF and examples of search requests in SPARQL.
  • How much will you pay for electricity next year? A use case showing how to make a specific calculation request via SPARQL.

LINDAS fournit les données ElCom via deux points d’accès SPARQL publics pour son environnement de production :

  • https://ld.admin.ch/query: This is the official public end point used in all Jupyter notebooks. We recommend using this end point for the development and testing of new tariffs as soon as they are announced.
  • https://lindas-cached.cluster.ldbar.ch/query: This end point is the same as the one mentioned above, but stores all HTTP requests in the cache to enable quicker and more reliable access. We recommend using this end point for live websites or as soon as the data for the new year has been published.
