Market Surveillance section

The Market Supervision section is responsible for supervising wholesale electricity trading. As a competence centre for data collection and analyses of the wholesale electricity market, it supervises the proper functioning of wholesale electricity trading and takes steps to increase market transparency.

The analyses carried out by the Market Supervision section are intended to draw attention to any potential improprieties in wholesale electricity trading, e.g. insider trading or market manipulation. To carry out its analyses, it relies heavily on the reporting and transparency requirements stipulated in Article 26a of the Federal Electricity Supply Ordinance (cf.
